Valet Trash guide

What Is Valet Trash?

A clear definition of valet trash, including doorstep-to-dumpster collection, curbside bin service, common property types, and scope questions.

Valet trash is a scheduled service that moves household waste or containers from a resident-facing location to the property’s collection point or curb.

Two common valet trash models

At apartments, doorstep-to-dumpster service usually collects tied bags from approved containers outside each unit and moves them to a compactor or dumpster.

At single-family homes, HOAs, BTR communities, and vacation rentals, curbside bin valet typically rolls municipal carts to the curb before pickup and returns them afterward.

What a service scope should define

A clear scope covers service days, set-out windows, accepted material, container standards, access, missed-stop procedures, documentation, and who handles overflow or bulk items.

The property and provider should also define resident communication, safety rules, escalation paths, and performance reporting before launch.

Where valet trash can fit

Properties use valet trash as an amenity, an operations service, a curb-appearance solution, or support for residents and owners who cannot be present on collection day.

The right model depends on the existing waste system. Valet service moves material within that system; it does not automatically replace municipal hauling, dumpsters, compactors, or disposal contracts.

Direct answers

Frequently asked questions

Does valet trash replace a dumpster or municipal collection?

Usually no. It commonly moves bags or carts to the existing downstream collection point.

Is valet trash only for apartments?

No. Curbside models can serve homes, HOAs, BTR communities, vacation rentals, and managed portfolios.

Who supplies containers?

That depends on the service scope. The contract should state container ownership, standards, replacement, and cleaning responsibilities.
